Loads of new music on today's show along with tributes to two of the greatest Canadian songwriters & performers of all, and we even kick off the festive season willingly and optimistically!
It's time to acknowledge the end of summer and our impending doom (aka winter) with some seasonal songs. Following that, we're all about the exciting upcoming shows, with previews of a mighty busy week on the concert calendar!
A bit of new music to kick things off, some rediscovered classics, a look at two amazing upcoming shows, and a whole lot of rockin' bangers that couldn't be contained in our usual two-hour show, so we stretched out and took over an extra hour.
Don't forget about tomorrow's big Tell the Band to Go Home 20th Anniversary Live Recording with JP Hoe, Keri Latimer, and Nicky Mehta! Tickets are still available and we'd love to have as many of you join us as possible! INFORMATION / TICKETS
Looking over the statistics for our most played songs of the last 20 years, I noticed a rather interesting omission over the past few years, so we corrected that by playing it twice and hearing a few other classics from one of our favourites. We talked about exciting upcoming shows, a powerful documentary, a recent show in town, paid tribute to a recently deceased legend, and heard some great new tunes!
The official start of our 21st year on UMFM starts with a look back at what we've played since our last major set of statistics, the 800th Episode Leaderboard. I'll add these new numbers to the previous 800 and come up with new all-time leaders, but for now we heard some of our recent most played songs, albums, and artists. We've also got the usual contingent of great new music and we send some love out to the great Jon Dee Graham.
This week, Ripped Hat had me in the mood for some SRV, some new music, requests, birthday celebrations for a couple of cornerstones of my collection, we look forward to next week's JP Hoe CD release shows, and hear a couple of gems from the Gail Comfort collection!
Lots of new music this week, including the return of Bandcamp Friday, some new obsessions, we send some love to a dear friend who's calling it quits after a great music career, and in honour of the last long weekend of the summer, a bonus hour of great classics!
