A big Birthday Bash, an exciting new local band, a returning longtime favourite band, some new stuff, a look ahead to Static Roots 2022, and we spin some songs about a woman's right to choose, which we're fully in favour of.
How about that heat, huh? We got hit with a heck of a heatwave this weekend, and it was hard to think of anything else, so we've got a pile of "hot" songs today, as well as a bunch for those who were supposed to run the Manitoba Marathon today before the heat spoiled the party!
The good news is that we have some exciting upcoming shows to preview and a whole pile of great new releases and a few inspired by Dagwood Radio on UMFM. The bad news is that we have yet another tribute to a brilliant musician that we lost this week, as we say a fond farewell to the great Kelly Joe Phelps.
Yet another tribute to a dearly departed music legend today, as we remember the great Rompin' Ronnie Hawkins. We've also got great new music and previews of some exciting upcoming festivals near and far.
Live in studio today as we celebrate the posthumous birthday of our namesake Paul MacLeod and pay tribute to a true giant in the Canadian folk/roots/blues scene, Michael "A Man Named" Wrycraft, who designed incredible album packages for some of our favourite and most significant artists.
Michael hosted a couple of amazing radio shows, which you can find and enjoy here: https://www.mixcloud.com/amancalledwrycraft/
Lots of live music inspired content today as we look forward to a couple of exciting upcoming shows and talk about some great ones that have happened recently, and throw in some new music and old classics to round things out.
Happy Mother's Day to all of the great moms out there! We're grateful and in awe of your hard work and patience!
So you say you like Country music? Or perhaps you say you don't and need to be tricked into it? Well, today we've got two hours of songs, albums, and artists, recommended if you like country music that might be able to broaden your horizons a bit. We've got some genuine country music that you might not be familiar with, alongside some roots rockin' folkies with a bit of the ol' country flair.
Back to the cozy confines of The Sunset Saloon for another pre-recorded episode while we dig out from Snowmageddon 2022. We've got some timely tunes in [honour?] of the return of Winter as well as some new music and previews of big shows coming up here and elsewhere!
More than two full years after our last live broadcast, Tell the Band to Go Home returned to the studio to see whether we remember how it's done. Things got off to a little late due to some access issues and ran a little late, but in between, we had some fun with some new music and some exciting upcoming shows.
