Episode #1004
On September 11, 2003, my friends Gary Annable, Mike Neufeld, and Terry "T-Bar" Wilson and I launched a weekly radio show called Steel Belted (Free Range) Radio. In honour of the 20th anniversary of our debut, we managed to get 3/4 of the original hosting lineup back together for a joyful reunion. T-Bar and Gary joined me for some memories of the good old days, some new music, and lots of laughs. We also celebrated the recent 25th anniversary of the most incredible festival lineup ever assembled in this city, the World Next Door Festival, which was held Sept. 4-7, 1998. We heard from some of the artists booked that weekend, including many that I wish I had taken the time to go see.

Episode #1003
The big news this week is the Winnipeg return of one of the greatest live bands I've ever seen, the original Mike Plume Band! In the late 90s/early 200s, Mike and this band toured relentlessly and along the way, crafted some of the greatest Canadian albums of all time. They get together every once in a while, but haven't played in Winnipeg for over 20 years, so it's kind of a big deal that they'll be back in the cozy confines of Times Change(d) High & Lonesome Club on Tuesday. To prove the point, get you ready, and hopefully win over a few more folks, I present the official Mike Plume Band Primer, where I dive into three outstanding albums that the band made. If these tunes don't convince you, I'm not sure what would. Tickets: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/mike-plume-band-tickets-585979058137
In addition, we've got some timely tunes, an overdue tribute to Robbie Robertson, and a pile of old classics!

Pre-recorded today as we're off celebrating super friend/supporter Annie's big birthday! In her honour, we've got a lot of songs about Mariannes, Annies, and a few songs about Mary made it in there. We've got new music, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of one of the greatest albums to ever come out of this city or country, and look ahead to some fun shows happening next week across the border!

Episode #1001
To commemorate the 1000th episode of the program, I present the recording of a live event that we put on in October of last year to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the show. We recorded a live version of Tell the Band to Go Home at The Park Theatre with special guests Keri Latimer, Nicky Mehta (The Wailin' Jennys), and JP Hoe, three longtime friends and favourites. I had a conversation with each, then they played some of their songs. As usual, we also heard some new music and talked about some exciting upcoming events.

Episode #1000
It's our 1000th episode, but in true TTBTGH fashion, we're going to forego the festivities for another week so we can do something a little special. In hour 1, we've got some exciting upcoming shows to preview. This show was recorded just before our friend Jim Bryson came to town for a show at my house and to head out to the Trout Forest Music Festival. I've said for years that Jim is a true cornerstone of my collection, and of Canadian music in general, because he's helped, inspired, and produced an incredible list of artists. To prove that, I dug up as many of the projects that Jim's been a part of as I could. In the end, I had more than 4 hours of material to fit into two hours of the show, so there's plenty left over, but I think it presents a pretty in-depth look at the remarkable career of one of Canada's true most valuable musicians. If you're looking for a more straight up "best of" Jim's own material, check out last week's show.
Next week, I plan to have something special to mark the 1000th episode.
** Note: This show was recorded before news broke that Robbie Robertson had died. Obviously, his influence on the music that I play on this show is immense, so we'll pay proper tribute soon. **

Episode #998
Today we preview a few exciting upcoming shows in Winnipeg as well as this year's outstanding Calgary Folk Festival lineup. (upcoming local events: https://tellthebandtogohome.com/upcoming-events/, Calgary Folk Festival: https://www.calgaryfolkfest.com/
In 2016, I put together a show full of love songs for some dear friends who were getting married. This time, it's my turn! It's been a whirlwind of change and joy since the big Tell the Band to Go Home 20th anniversary show at The Park Theatre in October, which is where I was re-introduced to someone who was very significant in my younger life, but I hadn't really seen in 23 years, Nicole Robson.
On Tuesday, it'll be the 25th anniversary of our first wedding, which happened on July 25, 1998, and we're going to celebrate by doing it all over again, but promise to do it right this time! The love and joy and hope that I once wished on others, but secretly thought wasn't possible for me, has now arrived, and the future looks very bright! My friend Dietmar may claim to be the luckiest man alive, but I'm making a run for the title. The songs in this show help express some of the immense luck and satisfaction that I'm feeling these days.
