I've been spending some time visiting the hospital this week, so we've got some extra appreciation for excellent nurses, paramedics, and doctors, and we heard some songs in honour of them and the people they help, including some folks who are mighty important around here. We also looked forward to the 20th anniversary of a venue that's mighty important around here and one of our oldest musical friends, and talked about yet another important friend and colleague who's gearing up to make an eagerly awaited new record. We slipped in some new music and some old classics as well.

Skydiggers have been celebrating the 30th anniversary of their landmark album Road Radio, which is an all-time favourite for me. They compiled a playlist of some other great releases from 1995, but I quickly realized that a bunch of my favourites were missing from their list so I started making my own. I had no idea how many albums that I adore today came out 30 years ago. I came up with so many possible inclusions that I couldn't possibly fit them into my 3 hour show, but I did my best and put together a pretty fun trip back in time to the year 1995!

John has been battling cancer and a variety of other ailments that have made life very difficult, but haven't dimmed his optimism or love for life. I take great pride in playing a lot of local music on this show and celebrating and supporting the local music community as much as I can, but I don't think I've ever devoted an entire episode to showing off the wide variety of great music being made by artists from Manitoba or by other artists who have come here to record. I realized quickly that there was no way to distill it to a "Best of" or a complete overview, so this is a personal sampling of some of the great music that I love that came from here or was recorded here. There's so much more to discover and enjoy, but I hope you get a sense of the talent and passion that comes from this place by listening to this show!
