It’s Pledge-O-Rama time again! This is the one show a year where we turn the power over to the listeners and ask them to help keep us going and growing. The generous support of our listeners puts the wind in our sales and helps us to fix broken equipment and take on new projects. We’ve been very lucky to have such great support from our listeners. In return, we try to put on an extra special show. Today we have the world premiere of the brand new album from Winnipeg icons the D. On the eve of the historic Rheostatics reunion shows going on this weekend in Toronto, a listen back to a show that was produced for their last (aborted) reunion. This show originally aired on December 6, 2012.
Tonight, a show I’ve been thinking about doing since I started at
UMFM, a beginners’ guide to Rheostatics. One of my favourite bands of
all time, and a band that changed my life forever, Rheostatics albums
don’t always jump out at new listeners – sometimes they’re a bit hard to
get into. Tonight’s show culls some of the most amazing and accessible
songs by one of Canada’s most legendary and respected bands.

Episode #249 – One for Willie P.
A show I wish I never had to do. Yesterday, one of the true guiding lights of this show went out, as Canada's greatest songwriter of all time, Willie P Bennett died. His songs and spirit will live on forever, but it's sad to think that we'll never see him or hear from him again. In memory of him, two hours of memories and music from the man, including Willie originals, Willie covers, a song about Willie, songs featuring Willie, and Willie live. We heard from friends like Stephen Fearing, Scott Nolan, Colin Linden, and Willie's longtime boss, bandmate, and friend, Fred Eaglesmith.
