Today an overdue tribute to the great Audrey Auld who passed away far too soon a few weeks ago. She left a lot of beauty to enjoy. We’ve also got some great new music in the mail bag as well as a few great upcoming shows to preview!
It's the sad anniversary of the death of Stevie Ray Vaughan, and few other musicians had such an impact on me as a kid, so a few songs to remember him by. I've got an upcoming musical voyage to preview/look forward to and a bunch of solid Steel Belted classics to bookend it all.
Today, a special blast from the past episode as I’m joined by the person who gave me my start on UMFM and my time slot, Lisa-Marie Serafin. She hosted Songwriters’ Circle on UMFM bi-weekly, and I was her borad operator/co-host. When she moved off to Quebec, I eventually inherited the slot and have been firmly entrenched ever since. Before hosting the show, Lisa-Marie was primarily a fine singer/songwriter, and she’s slowly making a return to performing. It was a pleasure to have her back on air and in the booth after 12 years!
A look back at the amazing Interstellar Rodeo, a listen to some great new music, and once again I somehow tried to host a hip-hop show(set.)
Today we dig through the mail bag and find some great new submissions and we look forward to some exciting upcoming shows, including one of the strongest festival lineups we’ve ever seen (next to the legendary festival that was last held at The Forks), The Interstellar Rodeo!
Our pal Joe Nolan returns to town tonight, and after a confusing tour of the U of M campus, he found his way to the station for a great chat and some terrific live performances! Plus we’ve got a couple of other shows to talk about and a little bit of an unpaid political advertisement!
Today we’ve got some new music, some rockin’ classics, a look ahead to the Trout Forest Music Festival, and a tribute to a recently departed legend!
