It’s our last show before Canada Day, and although we celebrate great Canadian music every week on this program, a few special songs in honour of the day. We also look ahead to the return of Washboard Hank, and play a bit of a 4th of July tribute for our American friends. Most excitingly, we’ve got some very special live guests today, as Texas based singer/songwriters Mike June and Jess Klein dropped in to chat and play some of their great songs!
Wasn’t that a party! A look back at last night’s amazing Mike Plume Band show, and a look ahead to the exciting upcoming Mike June & Jess Klein show! I only recently figured out that one of my favourite songwriters ever, Alex Dezen of The Damnwells is my birthday neighbour, so I have to wish him well, and give myself the gift of some great Damnwells songs. We end off with a solid set of Steel Belted classics.
I'm joined by my old friend and former co-host Gary Annable, as well as his son Harris for a set of moving songs in honour of the day.
Featuring an interview with and live performances by Matt Epp, who is accompanied by his infant daughter Luma!
It’s Father’s Day today, so a very special episode featuring fathers & our children, as I’m joined by my son Jeremy, and a special co-host, Gary Annable, who was one of the original hosts of Steel Belted Radio but hasn’t been back on UMFM in a decade; he brought his son along and we were joined by Matt Epp, who brought his infant daughter Luma with him for a chat and to play some songs from his new album.
Plenty of great shows to preview tonight, including next week’s long-awaited return of the Mike Plume Band, as well as some rockin’ classics. Good stuff.
