I’ve been a huge fan of Shannon Lyon for over a decade. In the past few years, I’ve gotten to know him and enjoy his company, and I’ve had him play at my house a few times, but I’ve never been able to convince him to come on the show, until now! Shannon joins us today to talk about log-cabin living, Lost Creek recording studio, production work, and more. He also plays live and premieres some advance tracks from his upcoming album, The Lights Behind!
More great new music, including Record Store Day goodies, and a couple of great upcoming shows to preview!
It's the day after Record Store Day, but the celebration's still going on! Some RSD releases, before a chat with Brock Zeman, who we've been blessed to have play a number of times at The Sunset Saloon, but who is now headed to town to play the big room, The West End Cultural Centre! We'll find out how he feels and how he's preparing for this big break. Today we also get to be the official announcer of the 2014 lineup for The Trout Forest Music Festival! AD Devin Latimer gave us a call to spill the beans and get us excited for that great festival in August.
It's Bad Thursday, and we're off to see Sunparlour Players tonight, so a bit of an abbreviated episode. A look back at a great Bad Thursday from our past, and a look ahead to this weekend's Record Store Day!
It’s a good news/bad news kind of day. First the good! One of the most electrifying live bands in Canada, Sunparlour Players return to Winnipeg this week after a bit of a wait, so we celebrate with some of their amazing songs and a chat with Andrew Penner, one half of this truly dynamic duo. The bad news this week, is that we had to say goodbye to the great Jesse Winchester. The man’s name wasn’t nearly well enough known, but his amazing legacy of songs and performances proves that he had a larger impact than many would even realize. A heartfelt tribute to this great songwriter, performer, and person is definitely in order.
New music! Lots of it! It's good! Listen!
Here’s the latest entry in our archive of timeless episodes that you may hear again at some point when I can’t make it in, and can’t quite find the time to record something new. It doesn’t happen all that often, but when it does, it’s nice to have a few of these on hand.
This time, we’re going with a theme, albeit a bit of a silly one – we’re playing artists in order of their alphabetical placement – going all the way from Alvin to Zeman on this A to Z episode!
Show reviews & previews aplenty, including Juno madness, Ridley Bent, Sweet Alibi, Matt Epp, and more, along with an unreleased gem from our namesake, Mike Plume!
