Episode #843
This is another in our collection of timeless Standby episodes, which you may hear again sometime when I'm not able to put together a new episode for whatever reason. I'm pretty sure you won't mind because this is a pretty good one.
Playing great Canadian music is a main mission and joy on this show because I really believe that the best music in the world comes from right here. Every week I try to stack the show with a lot of great homegrown music, but this week, in honour of Canada Day, we're 100% all Canadian and proud of it.
This episode is kind of like a beginner's guide to the best of Canadian music, or a Canadian Greatest Hits, if you will. It aims to pull together some of the most essential Canadian music ever made in an attempt to show the strength and breadth of our music. We look at some of the early giants whose shoulders today's artists stand on, and a few contemporary artists who are making timeless music bound to be looked back on in years to come.
I can't pretend to put together a comprehensive list in just 2 hours, but I think this one covers a lot of the most important bases. Please let me know what would be on your list of essential Canadian music!

Episode #827
It's International Women's Day, and we're celebrating with an all-female show today! We're playing a game of Girls Play Boys, where female artists cover songs written and made famous by males, and show them how the songs should really be sung! We've also got a bit of new music and some great requests/suggestions from some of our favourite female listeners. Sadly, we also had to do a bit of a tribute to Canadian singer/songwriter Laura Smith, who passed away this weekend.

Episode #819
Prerecorded today, and another in our list of standby episodes that you may end up hearing some other time, but the music is so good that you surely won't mind. This time I found a way to make sure that the show was timely and topical for whatever date it might get played again by playing songs about every month of the year, at least twice! We're calling this one More than Two Good Years because we covered each month at least twice, and then some! I hope you enjoy the show and hope to be back live next week!

It's back! Again! A full day of wonderful, weird, and WTF music. Things start out great with some of the very best of 2019, we move into some great 'Mats music, spin some requests and suggestions, some of the recently released, exciting list of performers appearing at the Static Roots Festival 2020, and some female secret weapons. These marathons are best used as an outlet for weird stuff that I don't normally get to play on air, so we rocked out to some loud rock 'n' roll, had a bunch of whiskey (songs), listened to some namedropper songs, got into some hip-hop, some soul, and got into the time machine and revisited some really old guilty pleasures. 12 hours of fun and great music!

Episode #817
Today's show is full of great, classic Christmas songs that definitely do not suck. We also threw in a few non-holiday requests just for fun. From us here at Tell the Band to Go Home, we wish all of our listeners, supporters, and friends, a very Merry Christmas (if that's your thing.) Even if it's not, we hope you find fun and fellowship with family and/or friends, as well as some great music, this time of year and always!
We probably won't be on next Sunday, but tune in Friday, December 27, 11 am to 11 pm for another Epic Mudge Marathon on UMFM! It's bound to get weird, but we plan on having a bunch of fun doing it.

Episode #813
Today, a sad farewell to one of the biggest influences on my musical development and one of the greatest live performers I've seen, the great John Mann of Spirit of the West. He lost his battle with Alzheimer's this week, but his spirit will live on through the great music that he made. We heard a lot of it on this episode, but there's so much more we couldn't get to. We also heard some great requests, talked about some exciting upcoming shows and spun some great new tunes.

It's the final day of Pledge-O-Rama 2019, and although we were thrilled to pass our initial goal last night, we're still working hard to earn your support which will help us to have another wonderful, prosperous year at UMFM! We rely on your donations to help us share great programming full of music, talk, and ideas that you won't hear on your normal radio.
Mudge in the Morning is an all-out effort to play some of the greatest underappreciated music in the world. This one was kind of like a Greatest Hits episode with stellar songs from across our spectrum designed to get you moving in the morning or whenever you tune in.
Even though Pledge-O-Rama is officially over, we can always use your help year-round! Consider making a donation to show that you support what we do: https://umfm.com/donate/
